Philanthropy Day® acknowledges the entire spectrum of services provided by the not-for-profit community and recognizes the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society. Each November, AFP chapters across America honor individuals and groups who, through their hard work and dedication, have enhanced philanthropy, their communities and the world.
On Long Island, Philanthropy Day is devoted to a one-day conference where fundraising professionals, volunteers, board members, executive directors, business leaders and community activists gather to hone their fundraising skills and celebrate leaders in fundraising and philanthropy. AFPLI’s Philanthropy Day is one of the largest one-day fundraising conferences in the country.
The long history of AFPLI’s Philanthropy Day reflects a dedication to providing the best possible session leaders, addressing topics that truly matter to the success of our attendees, whether they are a one-person start up or a multi-million dollar institution with specialized functions in multiple offices. A commitment to give attendees the information they need to be effective and ethical fundraisers, with high quality of speakers and relevant topics has created a culture of excellence that exemplifies Philanthropy Day on Long Island.
The honorees at Philanthropy Day are carefully selected and chosen by a committee that selects the women, men, students and organizations whose efforts make a tremendous difference to the quality of life on Long Island. They reflect the many different areas where the not-for-profits work, from environmental preservation to social service agencies to educational and health care institutions. Our honorees are chosen for their accomplishments, and every year, we are amazed and inspired by their stories and their deep concern for others.
