Marcia Coné, Ph.D.

Change Strategist

As our community and our nation faces quantum shifts in gender roles and questions long-established power dynamics in the workplace and the home, the messages from Change Strategist Marcia Coné, Ph.D., resonate on many different levels.

President of Marcia Coné Consulting, a firm that has closely advised countless organizations and individuals through times of growth, development and transition, Marcia’s transformative leadership, coaching and consultant style is tailored to the unique needs of her clientele.

She has successfully led strategic planning, performance measurement protocol and tools, research, public policy advocacy, board engagement and development, leadership coaching (individuals, teams, board), seminars and workshops for dozens of local, state, national and international organizations. She is currently Change Strategist for Women’s Funding Network (a membership organization of over 100 foundations advancing women and girls), in addition to her consulting work.

Marcia served as Chief Executive Officer of Women’s Fund of Rhode Island – an organization that invests in women and girls through research, advocacy and strategic partnerships to eliminate gender bias through systemic change.  Among many successes during her years of service, the Women’s Fund succeeded in helping to make Rhode Island the third state in the country to adopt paid family leave law and only the first to guarantee job security through the historic passage of Temporary Caregiver Insurance legislation, in addition to 25 legislative wins on behalf of women and girls.

In addition to leading the foundation, Marcia has a rich and diverse background in advocacy, program planning, evaluation and leadership for at risk youth. She spent over 20 years leading nonprofit organizations, including philanthropic, to advance the health, education, safety and well-being of children.

With more than 25 years of experience in executive leadership and management, Marcia is a well-regarded speaker and writer, who shares much of her expertise through keynote speaking engagements, workshops and trainings across the country on wide range of topics. Marcia has received numerous awards acknowledging her strong and effective leadership and commitment to excellence.

Her book, Permission Granted: Changing the Paradigm for Women in Leadership, offers an inspiring and supportive approach for managing professional growth. Building on her insight and experience in leadership, Marcia offers opportunities for discovering and understanding the reader’s current situation from a different, more aligned perspective.
